About Me:
I grew up on a farm. My earliest childhood memories are about food. When my sister and I would pass the carrot patch we would pull a large crunchy carrot, swish it in the rain barrel to remove the dirt, and eat it. I especially loved green peas, right from the garden--they were much better raw than cooked. Another memory was cherry season. Up the cherry tree we would go, and what a feast was to be had! Good whole food was what my family ate.
The picture is from our "urban garden." We ate from our garden all summer; the kale and collards survived the winter, even a 17 inch snow fall!
I have been interested in cooking all my adult life, and have saved hundreds of recipes, but usually only use the recipes for general ideas. I have recently begun writing down some of my recipes, after being frustrated that I could never repeat the ones we really liked.
I am a vegetarian, and have dozens of vegetarian cook books with wonderful recipes. We have been leaning toward being vegan, and I am taking this as a challenge to develop more of the vegan recipes.
Last week, my daughter, Becky, introduced me to the idea of starting a website as a way to organize my recipes, so here goes! Lyn
